Small Change, Big Impact: How Our Community Is Building a Brighter Future
February 16, 2026
Sometimes the most meaningful change begins with something small.
This month, Scully Learning Center Foundation is launching a Community Penny Drive — an invitation to our neighbors, families, and local businesses to bring their spare change and help create lasting impact for adults with developmental disabilities in our community.
At first glance, pennies, nickels, and dimes may seem insignificant. But together, they tell a powerful story: when a community comes together, even the smallest contributions can help build something extraordinary.
Beyond Programs: Supporting Lives, Not Just Services
Every day, we support adults with developmental disabilities who deserve more than services — they deserve opportunity, dignity, and belonging. Our programs help individuals build life skills, form meaningful connections, and grow in confidence. But for many families, the question remains:
What happens next?
Parents and caregivers often worry about their loved ones’ future — especially when they can no longer provide daily support. It’s a question filled with uncertainty and hope, and it’s one we hear often.
A Vision for a Group Home in Arizona
That question is why we are working toward one of our most important goals: building a group home in Arizona designed specifically for adults with developmental disabilities.
This home represents more than a physical space. It represents stability, safety, and community — a place where residents can thrive, and families can find peace of mind knowing their loved ones are supported.
Bringing this vision to life requires more than funding. It requires community.
Community Partnerships Make It Possible
The Community Penny Drive is about more than collecting coins. It’s about inviting everyone — children, families, schools, local businesses, and neighbors — to be part of something bigger than themselves.
When a child drops a handful of coins into a jar, or a local business places a collection box at its counter, it sends a powerful message: we care.
Every coin collected helps move us closer to our goal. Every participant becomes part of the story.
Join Us in Making Small Change Count
We believe that big impact doesn’t always come from big donations. Sometimes it comes from many small acts of generosity, united by a shared purpose.
By participating in our Community Penny Drive, you are helping support adults with developmental disabilities today — and helping build a home that will serve them for years to come.
Bring us your small change. Together, we can make a big change for our community.
