The Scully Learning Center Foundation is thrilled to introduce its newest community initiative: Pennies for Preserving Families — a simple, meaningful fundraiser with the power to create real change.

With pennies becoming “forgotten coins” in jars, drawers, and glove boxes across America, we’re inviting the community to put them to work. By collecting pennies and loose change, this campaign helps support local adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities—providing life-enriching programs that promote independence, confidence, and connection.

Why Pennies Matter More Than You Think

Most of us don’t use pennies anymore — but together, those tiny coins can create a huge impact.
Every penny collected goes directly toward the programs and experiences that help adults thrive socially, emotionally, and creatively.

Pennies that once sat unused can now help preserve families, strengthen support systems, and ensure a bright, inclusive future for the people we serve.

Where to Drop Off Your Pennies for Preserving Families

Residents can now donate their spare change at several convenient community locations:

More drop-off sites will be announced as the campaign continues to grow.

Catch Us During Cave Creek Rodeo Days

In celebration of community spirit, the Scully Learning Center Foundation will also collect pennies along the parade route during Cave Creek Rodeo Days on March 25.

Look for our float — and bring your pennies, spare change, and good cheer! Parade-goers will have the chance to deposit their donations directly into our collection buckets as we pass by.

It’s a fun, easy way for the entire community to participate in a campaign that fuels hope, opportunity, and belonging.

A Small Gesture, A Big Difference

Your spare change may feel small, but when multiplied by the power of community, the impact is extraordinary.
Every penny collected helps fund:

  • Skill-building experiences

  • Social engagement programs

  • Creative workshops and activities

  • Support that strengthens families and preserves community connections

Together, we can ensure that adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities continue to learn, grow, and thrive.  Click to learn more about Preserving Families’ Home.
